Nuptial Mass

During Communion, all non-Catholics or those not presently disposed to receive Communion are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing by crossing their arms across their chest, but cannot receive Communion. This will also be announced during mass.

St. Mary's History

St. Mary's Parish in Austin was established in 1852, just thirteen years after the founding of the town, due to a significant influx of Irish Catholic settlers. Like the town, originally named Waterloo, the parish also began under a different name, St. Patrick's. In 1874, Father Daniel Spillard commissioned the noted architect Nicholas J. Clayton to design plans for a new church. That same year, construction of the present church commenced. In April 1884, the completed St. Mary's Church was officially dedicated.

On September 20th, 2025, more than a century later, this historic and sacred space will hold special significance once again, as we are honored to be married there. Beginning our lives together within the walls of a place so deeply rooted in Austin's spiritual and cultural heritage is profoundly meaningful to us.

Reception

Our wedding cocktail hour and reception will be held at The Austin Club, located at 10 E 9th Street, Austin, TX 78701, just one block from the ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, we invite you to take a brief walk to the Austin Club.

The cocktail hour will take place on the first floor, where guests will be welcomed with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. We encourage you to explore the first floor and enjoy the historic charm and hospitality that The Austin Club has to offer.

Following the cocktail hour, we kindly invite you to join us on the second floor of The Austin Club for a seated, plated dinner based on your pre-selected entrée choice submitted with your RSVP. Throughout the evening, refreshments will continue to be available for your enjoyment.

After dinner, we welcome you to enjoy the dance floor, relax on the balcony, explore the Austin club, and/or partake in a few special surprises we have planned. To conclude the celebration, we will gather outside The Austin Club for a send-off.

We’re truly grateful to be celebrating our wedding day with so many of our dearest family and friends!

The Austin Club History

The grand and historic Millett Opera House is the home of The Austin Club. The Opera House was built in 1878 by Austin contractor and businessman Captain Charles F. Millet and was designed by architect Frederick E. Ruffini. When completed, the opera house was second in size and grandeur only to the Galveston Opera House. Known as "the social center of Austin" in its heyday, the building was not only used for opera and theater, but also hosted legislative sessions, political conventions, graduation ceremonies, formal dances, roller skating, parties, boxing, and wrestling matches. The charter for The Austin Club was granted on the 17th day of June, 1949.
